MIDA - events

28 June 2014 – Mecoil’s team has just come back after its second meeting in Romania with EMSIL, international partner of MIDA Manunet project.
This visit officially kicked off the fourth phase of the project. During this phase MIDA prototype will collect and remotely control  necessary data to create a real database indispensable for the A.I. implementation.
At this aim EMSIL engineers  have realised a real oil hydraulics machine, complete of  a piston user with solenoid automatic activation and hydraulic motor furnished of a gear reducer and bearing.
The hydraulic circuit uses an ISO VG 32 hydraulic oil and it’s able to detect in real time:

  • Kinematic viscosity;
  • Density;
  • Dielectric;
  • ISO contamination codes (for the cleaning fluid level evaluation);
  • saturation percentage (for the water content determination);
  • oil degradation percentage, for the lubricant conditions’ assessment;
  • These parameters are available online at Mida dashboard.

The hydraulic system will run (continuously) until the end of September. Firstly a training phase is foreseen, dedicated to the fully warmed-up prototype’s conditions analysis, in order to create a data history necessary to identify MIDA prototype’s optimal functioning condition.
Secondly, several controlled contamination will be carried out (about water, particulates and different oils),  to be automatically identified by KKT’s system, currently under development.
A special thanks (mulţumesc in Romanian) to all Emsil staff, that with patience and cooperation allowed the installation of the system (by promptly solving small electronic and hydraulic problems) and boosting MIDA project in its path towards the achievement of common goals.

MIDA was presented to the following events:

  • OilDoc – Jan-2013 - Event focused on new generation sensors for oil analysis. It is a trend-setting event for lubrication, maintenance and tribology.
  • WTC – World Tribology Congress – Sept-2013, organised by the Italian Tribology Association (AIT). The main objective of these meetings is to provide a unique opportunity of discussion concerning recent progresses in different aspects of tribology and strengthen the linkage between academy and industry.
  • Workshop Automotive – May-2013 – event organised by Mecoil where the leading Italian Automotive Industries were involved in MIDA presentation and technology transfer regarding targets, parameters, ect.
  • Condition’s Monitoring nelle Macchine Frigorifere – Nov-2013 – event organised by Mecoil where the MIDA preventive maintenance characteristic was presented as key solution for refrigerators.

The Kick-off meeting of the MIDA project was held the 4th October 2013 in Florence, hosted by Mecoil Diagnosi Meccaniche srl.
4 partners from Italy and Romania launched the “MIDA project - Machine Intelligence for Diagnosis Automation”. The 2 years project (September 2012 – December 2014) was approved within the MANUNET – ERA - NET programme, which fosters the competitiveness of Europe’s Manufacturing Industry by supporting the funding of manufacturing research projects performed by enterprises (preferably SMEs), universities and research centres.
Intensive cooperation will allow partners to development of a fully automated prototype for oil analysis and fault prediction, based on Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) software and online hardware.
